Talk the talk delivers high quality, practical and engaging relationships, and sex education sessions to pupils at Bank View School. All the pupils have an educational health care plan, and all had additional needs. The pupils enjoy the sessions and learn so much from Rachel. Rachel delivers exceptional sessions to SEN pupils ranging from age 10-19. The impact is huge on the pupils, and they all leave the sessions excited about follow up sessions delivered by staff in school. They pupils feel confident in asking questions and talking about extremely sensitive subjects. They ask ever year after the sessions, ‘when is Rachel coming back?’ Our students said ‘I enjoy the sessions with Rachel as she makes it fun and we learn loads of good stuff’ (year 8 pupil) ‘I can ask Rachel anything and she explains it in a way I understand, I loved the sessions’ (year 9 pupil) ‘I loved the session because I learnt lots that I didn’t know about having babies and stuff like that’ (year 7 pupil) ‘Rachel just explains it in a way that I get, I can’t wait for her to come back’ (year 10 pupil)

Rachel provided Sex and Relationships Education sessions to Year 11 in a series of one-hour workshops during PSHEE. Her enthusiasm and approachable persona enabled the students to feel comfortable and consequently they were very engaged and involved in the lessons. Rachel used a wide range of techniques and encouraged lots of open discussion to allow the students to drive the sessions themselves. They covered a wide variety of topics, including STIs, contraception, consent, and healthy relationships. Lots of students commented on how useful and informative they had found the lessons to be, and we have already arranged for Rachel to come back to work with some of our younger students soon.

For many years, St Margaret’s CE Academy Sixth Form have worked with Rachel and the team at Talk the Talk Education on their advice and engagement with young people in our Sixth Form relating to Sexual Health and Awareness. The team are thorough in their attention to detail and feedback from our students was that they in fact wanted more sessions because they were that engaging. The team cover a range of topics that are all relevant to students lives. We would highly recommend Talk the Talk Education to work in your establishment.

Really informative sessions delivered today to my youth team at the Princess Trust in Bootle. The sessions are not preached but interactive and enjoyable from a professional trainer. Very professional every time we have Karen in. The young people love her and really open up about their issues.

I just wanted to pass on my sincerest thanks for the staff delivery of the sexual health training that you provided to our team last week. The staff team found your training to be highly informative and you as a trainer to be very engaging with everyone. You are an excellent ambassador for your organisation, and the staff were very complimentary of your style of delivery. We will be in touch for future training for our new staff.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for everything you have done to support me, originally I was scared to join in the session after leaving a sexually abusive relationship, I was scared of the word ‘sex’ and was terrified of males. You took the time to speak with me one on one, listened to my concerns and believed me. It is the first time anyone other than a doctor has cared enough to listen to my story and taken the time to reassure me that what I was feeling was valid. That I needed to stop sugar coating what he did to me. It was rape. It had happened in the past and there is no way to change that, but I could change my mindset to help me accept what had happened and move on. You taught me more than sexual health that day; you taught me about love, self-esteem and confidence. I left the session with a new outlook on life. Not all men were bad, and I needed to overcome that anxiety. So, with your advice I challenged myself. I sat next to a male team member and suddenly, I felt a wave of empowerment; I spoke up and told him that I disagreed with his statement. For the first time in my life I had stood up to a male without getting hurt for doing so. This solidified what you told me, not all men are bad, and I cannot judge them all by my one unfortunate experience. My proudest moment to stem off the session was today (20/11/20), I was on the bus to the team room when I passed my ex on the bus, and I smiled under my mask. I felt free, I forgave him for what he put me through and told myself ‘Shannon, it’s time to move on’. There was no panic attacks or tears. I felt at peace. I really cannot thank you enough for everything you have taught me, I did not think a session of sexual health would have benefit me so much. I nearly did not attend at all, but I am so glad that I did

My colleague and students were just discussing favourite external agencies that we have had delivering sessions so far on our princes trust teams, and your session on sexual health and self-esteem was a clear winner! The students loved how engaging you were. They have all felt they have come away with learning something new and feel much better about themselves in various situations now. My colleague sandy and I agree. You are extremely energetic and knowledgeable throughout your delivery and relatable to the students. We would love to book you once again for our next team here in Croxteth. Thank you

Ben from Talk the Talk CIC delivered an engaging and thought-provoking presentation as part of our online staff and volunteer 'away-day' which focused on mental health in the workplace and the particular difficulties we are experiencing while working from home. Ben's presentation was very positively received by all of us at Citizens Advice Liverpool. He gave us some excellent tips and techniques on improving our mental health while using relatable personal experience to illustrate his points.

He is an accomplished public speaker and presenter and supports people to gain confidence in their own abilities quickly. His sense of fun makes him a pleasure to work with.

Litherland Youth & Community Centre (LYCC) have worked with Talk the Talk Education since their inception. We are proud to have been part of their journey and watch the organisation grow from strength to strength, providing pivotal support and guidance for local young people and in turn their families and wider community. TTTE staff are professional, knowledgeable and skilled individuals who adapt their approach based on each different group they work with – which is vital for the success of positive engagement and positive outcomes. One of most recent partnership pieces of work has been supporting a local high school (Litherland High School, LHS) with a certain peer group of young people – whom also attend LYCC. Due to the working relationship LYCC and LHS where open communication is paramount, it was identified that there were huge concerns with certain behaviours and attitudes displayed. This negative behaviour was having effects on school life, individuals, their families and the wider community. LYCC suggested that the expertise of TTTE was needed to support these identified young people, due to previous positive sessions provided and pieces of work. TTTE were able to tailor targeted workshops in relation to themes such as healthy/ positive relationships, confidence, resilience, consent , importance of language, body image. These sessions were delivered in LYCC, an informal safe setting, outside of school with the support and presence of teachers and youth staff. These sessions included general sessions to discuss the themes and a follow-up / evaluation some time later. It has not only been identified by LYCC , but the school and individual families the huge positive impact participating in these workshops had. School attainment and engagement has increased, a decline in bullying and a change in to more positive family relationships. LHS and LYCC are now speaking with TTTE on how this can be rolled out for other year groups/ peer groups , to keep this support consistent. Talk the Talk Education is a vital service for many individuals whom struggle to speak with “formal” services, their approach and ethos is what makes them a success. They are breaking down barriers and opening communication in relation to tough , hard hitting themes and current issues that many other organisations are failing to address. LYCC hope that our relationship and partnership with TTTE continues to grow and flourish for many more years to come, it is an honour to be able to provide this service and support for our members.

Ben’s session was fun informative and helped pupils to start thinking about what motivates them as an individual and what helps them to achieve their goals. It also encouraged them to measure their own resilience and explore a range of intervention hat look after and improve both their mental and physical wellbeing.

I was lucky to have sat in on a number of Ben's sessions with our students. It was incredible to watch. I saw students opening up and talking about themselves and their lives in ways that I had never saw them do prior to this. I could see the changes happening in front of me. Ben's natural humour, his passion and his excellent communication skills created an atmosphere in which the students thrived and truly learned how to be resilient.
